VAN DER VALK HOTEL DEVENTER

The new construction of this exclusive Van der Valk hotel in Deventer offered an exceptional blank canvas for translating the history of the city into Katarina's exuberant wallpaper collection. These designs inform visitors as they tell the story about middle age times when the city was under Scandinavian and catholic influences. These were crafted by mixing contemporary printing techniques and unusual colours to create vibrant, stained glass windows, intricate tapestries and hand-woven gobelins. Our design process started in the middle of the pandemic and this not only inspired us, but it also  made us realise the importance of nature and our environment. Referring to the picturesque surroundings of Deventer, the surprising 3D panoramic landscape wallpaper takes the visitor immediately to the banks of the River Ijssel, green woods and horse stables.
